The Best Chocolate Cake

I try hard to please the chocolate connoisseurs at my house. There are certain requirements to the perfect chocolate cake:

1. it must be 3 layers (this is my requirement)

2. it must be moist

3. it must be the perfect balance of chocolate--no bitter or dark chocolate flavor

No one laid out these rules for me...I discovered these requirements through trial and error--in the form of "constructive criticism" throughout the years that I have been serving chocolate cake to my family. But alas, my life-long quest for the perfect 3 layer chocolate cake has been conquered.
