Glad to hear from you all again=)
Its been a good week! It seems like every week goes by faster and faster...I cant believe it is already p day again! its kind of weird to think of the time lapse that i am in now...
I recieved my junior companion, Elder Russon this monday. Elder hamm and i hung out all day, and we had no clue when all of the new missionaries would be coming in, so we left them waiting in the terminal like 3 hours, we were laughing pretty hard about that! When we got to the terminal all the new missionaries looked like scared dogs with their tails tucked in between their legs. Like all the rest of us, they have heard that tena is the hardest sector of the mission. But after a week of seeing the work here, they are doing a little better! They arent as worried now. It is pretty funny, because that is exactly how elder hamm and i looked when we came in!
Elder Russon is from idaho falls! He is about 6 foot 3 and a big boy! He lives close to the walmart on the east side of town!(?) Let me know where all the family of ours lives so we can make that connection. We work well together! He is pretty new, so still working on his spanish, but its fun! I am also pretty new, so my spanish isnt perfect either. There are lots of words that i am still working on getting down, but as you can see, they sent new gringo with me so i must be doing something right!
I am not too happy with the family pineda this week. They tell me they are not sure they want to change. They say the catholic life is a ton easier, so its all about the mentallity of south america again. Why do harder stuff when i can do easier stuff?? But luckily i have been taught by my mother and father that the greatest things in life are only earned through work! i am kind of giving them the cold shoulder so they can think of their decision. If they dont pregress, we drop them and find someone that will progress! There is no time to waste in the work of the lord, especially here in tena!
We did find a great woman this week! Her name is nora medranda and is progressing greatly! She does like, nail and hand and feet stuff...i dont remember what that is called? Like kind of massages but with nail paint and stuff? When we first contacted her, we thought we couldnt enter in the house, and so we told her we couldnt enter without a male, and she said, my father is here! Her father is 80 years old and has colon cancer. He cant walk alone and is usually in his hammock or bed. But he is the smartest person i have met from ecuador so far! He is so inteligent! He understands everything we teach, and he loves it! The father and mother literally cry every lesson we teach haha. We definitely are teaching with the spirit elder russon and i! Nora has a kid too, but he is only 7! He turns 8 in september, so we just barely missed out there! But all is well! We are trying to find a rememedy to bring the grandpa to church. We arent quite sure what we are gonna do there. He just begs is to baptise him, it is way awesome! the both are great people. It was way funny to bring nora to church and have all the people in the branch know her already. They all go to her to do their nails and feet. so they are great!
This week i got tons of packages! I got the valentines day with the candies and ties! Thanks so much! They are so great! I love the ties! But what i loved the most was the note you all left me=) Love you all! I also got a package that you sent me for my birthday from the mtc! Haha how funny! So now i got two huge binders to lug around! But thank you very much for the packages=)
Good to hear about everybody passing tests and having success and all in school! Good job! Keep it up! Its crazy to think that it is spring break already...wow...good job mom with all of your teaching! I can say from experiance that that is when we learn the most, when we are the ones giving the lessons or talks! it is so true what you said about grace, god doesnt change our positions, he just makes our burdens lighter=)
and way cool the the nielsen guy got his call to come here! He will love it! There isnt a better mission in the world! When does he leave? and advice for when he leaves: Prepare yourself to never see nice things for two whole years;) haha just kidding!...kinda..but tell him that i have no doubt in my mind that the people in ecuador are the best people in the world. They do a ton with the little that they have been given. there isnt a mission in the world more special. The missionaries, the cities, the people, and the spirit. He is gonna love it so much! I cant wait to see you here man! Tell him to look up tena too!
Ok, well, this is all i got for you this week! It usre is good to hear from you guys! Stay safe! Have a great week!
Love
Elder Nielson
