#45

Hey family! Good to hear from everyone once again! sounds like it is crazy as ever back home! How fun=)
Well, this week has gone by even faster then the last week, which i didnt think could be possible! It it crazy! I seem to be getting more tired and more tired every day, but i guess that is exactly how it should be! It seems like there hardly isnt any time for anything! I am almost to the point of cancelling our p day and dedicating it to working in our sector, because we need more time here! But we are learning to be more and more efficient every day, so we hope to keep get better every day. I am defenitely learning tons of great things that will help me later on in the mission and also later on in life.
I couldnt help but chuckle mom when you wrote that when dominic has a year ill be almost home! You are trunky!! there is a mom here in our ward with her son in bolivia and she is exaclty like you haha! But her son comes home next week, so that is pretty cool!
Well, to fill you in a little about our week, it was all basically reunions and meetings! First we had the zone councils with all the zones of the mission for all day thursday, morning until 9 at night. We live relatively close to the chapel that we use for the meetings, only like 45 minutes in bus, so we had to go home that night, but with all the traffic, we got home at 10:30! So the next day we woke up and put back on our suits and headed back to the same chapel, but with all of our zone! What a madhouse! All of the zones of quito were at this meeting with elder grow, and so the entire chapel and overflow was clear full! Like 200 missioneries! It was a blast seeing all of my buddies from my group! For the first time in the mission here I saw Elder Peters!! That was so cool! He was my companion in the mtc, and i can tell is going to be one of my best friends for the rest of life. We were pretty happy seeing each other. He has trained two missionaries so far in the mission, and now is training his third. I always say that i am barren without children (missionaries that i have trained) which is really funny being a zone leader and all....but president knows what he is doing haha. All the missionaries were a bit wild becuase they all got to see there friends, so i and elder velasco had to confiscate a card game of uno, and threaten a few missionaries. At one point elder velasco even told me :I feel like we are hearding a heard of donkeys! I laughed like crazy at that! But we finally got everything settled and everything went well. We learned tons of great things from elder grow. He basically gave the same capacitations both days, and the focus was in the work of salvation, with less active members and also with recent converts. They taught us many great ways to keep the converts oing to church, and how to reactivate others. Elder grow explained that a reactivation is equal to a baptism, so we are really putting more emphasis and the less actives. The chruch is growing so fast here. With the converts and less actives reactivated, the church grows 1,600 members every month here in ecuador. Wow! The lord has prepared this land for his work.
So on saturday we set up an appointment with the bishop to teach him about what we need to do better in our ward with the work of salvation. We spent two hours there, and i taught the bishop how to work with the MLS program a little better. (I know how to use every part of that program the church has, i had to do all that work for the church in tena, so i was basically the secretary without the calling haha.) So now our ward is doing a lot better with the work of salvation. We have less active members to visit, and we are going to do our best to help them!
Well family, this has been my week! busy!! But wonderful. I am growing more and more every day. I love the work, and i love the lord. I have a testimony of this church and what i am doing here, and i will do everything i can to help the progress of the work of the lord along. I love you all so much! Thank you for being the family and support that i need. Have a wonderful week, be safe, and i will be praying for you every day!

Love,
Elder Nielson

To Dad:
Hey dad glad to hear all is well. Sounds like the vacation was a lot of fun! When we go out there (Saint George) we will have to go motorcycling. Elder Hamm from Hurricane offered to take us on a tour, so we will have to try it out there! Sounds like it would be fun. It was great with elder grow, but horribly long. We were in reunions for two days in a row with him without stopping, so it was a little rough. It was cool because he gave us numbers from all the missions of ecaudor and peru, and we as of now are baptizing the most in all of peru and ecuador! Cool! We talked about home for a bit, he has been through Adrian! That was fun to talk about a little. We didnt have much time to teach at all this week, and i really didnt enjoy that, but we should have time this week to make up for it. that is so cool you got your first baptism as mission leader! Haha we call those freebies when you get transferred to a new sector with an upcoming baptism. We also look for inactive families that have nine year old kids, because the baptisms count for us, so its a baptism without that much of work, so that is fun to look for. Do you guys have any other investigators in the ward? How are the missionaries? Are they zone leaders? how often do they call you to inform you of things? What are your plans of work? Let me know! It would be interesting to know the differences in the work back home and here. ok dad, thanks for writing. Have a great week! Love you!
