#46

hey family! once again i am sitting in front of the computer to write, it seems like the times pass by way too fast! The mission is just speeding up at a rate almost too hard to keep up with!
Well, too many hilarious and cool things have passed this week, so i will do my best to get everything in!
Well, to start off, we are as busy as ever, for the next change, 29 new missionaries are coming in, and so we are doing everything we can to expad our zones, split sectors, and rent houses to make space for them. We will have two new companionships with us in the next change, and so this week elder velasco and i had to work on getting the houses all set up and ready for them. A secretary showed up with the starter kits for new mission houses, and so we have set everything up and we are all ready for the new people that will come in. We are excited for them, and hope all will be well. One day that the secretary came with all of the stuff we were in district and zone meetings, so elder velasco went with another elder so i could keep control over the zone. Everything went well, and i gave a great capacitation that is really helping out the zone now. We are really impressed with the numbers of the zone this week, we are all having success and the month of august seems to very promising! We feel that we are really working together as a zone, and the work of the lord is advancing out here in los chillos.
In this week we found a few good families, and so we are looking for having more and more success. We are picking up the work with the less actives as well in our zone, and we hope to rescue a few as well.
Well, now to tell you a few funny stories of this week:
On friday, i recieved a call from elder caja, an elder in our zone that is training a new missionary from idaho falls called elder going. I answered the phone, and he tells me "Elder Nielson, i lost the gringo." Yep, the two got separated for almost three hours! At first i was decently worried for the lost missionary, becuase he is a big guy and doesnt speak hardly any spanish..so i could just imagine him walking down the road looking for his companion trying to commuicate with someone. I called the DL and had all of his district start to look for him. I hung up and explained to my companion that elder caja had gotten off a bus and right before elder going was getting off, the door shut! So Going got left in the buss. At that moment, my companion busted out laughing, and i couldnt help but do the same. How hilarious is that? Later they found him eating food at the house of a member, so all turned out well. But i havent laughed so hard for quite some time. Oh, the things that happen in the mission!
Also, the power is out in the house of a companionship of missionaries by our house, so they have been stopping by to shower in the mornings. It was pretty fun the first few days to open the window from outside of the house and dump cold buckets of water on the showerer! Haha! The senior comp is named elder vargas, he is from arizona and is from my group. Since the mtc, we have been great friends! He is a way cool guy and we plan to meet up after the mission to hang out. His name is arnold ray vargas if you want to add him on facebook. His comp is another greenie from arizona, so its fun!
We promised the zone a fun activity if we had good numbers this week, so we planned to check out a cool waterful in our zone. I had to call president for permission, and it was definitely an interrogation process haha, but we got permission and we headed out to visit the waterfall! It was a way fun activity, we had to walk 45 minutes to get there, but it sure was beautiful! it kind of reminded me of succor creek! We had a lot of fun and we are recharged and ready for a new week!
Well, this week we have planned for success, and we hope to be able to achieve our goals. I am doing great, i am very happy, loving the mission, loving the work, and the lord. I am so very greatful to be out on the mission and there is nothing i would ever do to risk not being here! I love being a missionary!
thanks for writing family, i love you all tons and pray for you often! Have a great week!
Love,
Elder Nielson
