Well, to start things off, I think it is great that you were able to testify on obedience mom! I have really gained a testimony on the importance of the obedience, so i am glad that you have that testimony too.
Well, this week has been very eventful, and definitely very draining! To start off our week, on tuesday we headed to the house of a companioship of missionaries in zone early. They are struggling with their numbers, and not having any success. So, we thought of what the reasons could be that they werent having success, and we finally figured out it was because they werent being very obedient. We woke at five in the morning to be able to make it to their house at 7:30. Really, they only live about 15 miles away from us, but with all the traffic of quito in the morning, we had to leave really early in bus to get to their house at that time. When we got to the apartment, we found the misisonaries still in bed, which was really tough to see. We gave it to them pretty hard for waking up late, and then afterwards we studied with them that day, and we helped them realize where they needed to improve in order to have sucess. We explained the importance of obedience, and how it could bless their lives. We kept verifying how they were doing the rest of the week, and it turns out that they worked hard this week, and brought two people to church! Good for them! i really enjoy helping my missionaries be able to have more success and experiance the miracles that the mission can bring when we are obedient.
After that day, our week got tough! My companion and i were both super tired for getting up at five, and that night, we didnt sleep a wink! So we were plenty tired the next couple of days. Wednesday, we slept allright, but we were still super tired. Then, Thursday night everything got even worse! At three in the morning, I woke up to a call on my phone. I put the phone on the nightstand by my bed so i can hear it just in case someone needs to call. And so I woke up and answered the phone completely asleep. Sister Castillo called me, telling me that she had been puking since twelve, and was super sick. So i told her that we would be there first thing in the morning to give her a blessing. So at 5:30 I woke up and called President to tell him how sick sister castillo was. He was awake when i called, and so i got permission from him to go into their house and my comp and i gave her a blessing. So we gave her the blessing, we went back to the house, and got in another half hour of sleep. But that day she just kept getting worse and worse! She couldnt keep anything down, and was getting really dehydrated. She was in touch with the misison nurses, but they werent really doing anything to help. So it almost got to the point of calling president to come and take her to the hospital. The only thing that she could keep down was gatorade, so we spent about 10 bucks that day in gatorade:/. We spent the whole day basically babysitting them. But by the next day, the nurses had medicine for her and she is slowly getting better now. She caught a virus that is going around here in the valley, and basically all the missionaries in our zone had it one time or another in this week. Including my companion and i. So two days after the incident with sister castillo, i woke up, sicker then a dog! With the same symptoms and everything. So I got the nurses called eraly and the medicine i needed. So i only suffered for a day. In the afternoon, the sisters brought me gatorade and a guitar and flowers and sang to me to get me to feel better. haha, they said they were just trying to return the favor, which was kind of cool to be looked after. i felt like i had my mommy for a while. So now, after a long week with almost all of the missionaries in our zone sick, we all feel better. And so i hope that we can actually get some work in in this week!
Today we went into the offices to pick up books of mormon and pamphlets for the zone. I also got my packet you sent me! I got all the ties! Thanks so much! It really means so much to me that you do all you do for me. I love you all tons! It was cool to go into the mission offices and say hi to president and his wife and everyone. They are coming down to the valley this wednesday to do interviews with our zone, so it will be a great opportunity to talk with them once again! I really enjoy talking with sister Christensen! She is a really great lady! She promised she would bring cookies to the zone for the interviews, so i am happy!
Well family, this is all i got for you in this week! Thanks for everything! I am always praying for you all, and jope the best for you! Have a great week!
Love,
Elder Nielson
