Well, this week has been interesting in many ways. We suffered this week without a single investigator in church! It has been a hile since that has happened to me...we didnt get much time in our sector. We spent all day tuesday at a conference of leaders once again. It was a great experiance, and it is nice to learn ho we can get better down here. We are started to ask other countries there way of contacting. We talked a little about the way paraguay is working. They dont knock on doors unless they know the names of the people, so basically all their work is by references of the members. We might be going to that in the near future. We will see! It is a very clever way of contacting, they find out the names of the neighbors of all the members, and then they go and offer them a card offering a free book of mormon, calling them by name. They say it works great down there. So we will see what happens.
Also, probably the funniest story was this week with the abusive family that we found. It has taken some weirds turns! I feel like my comp and i are investigatores of a drama or something. The wife has returned to quito, and is living by her parents in a separate house. As for now, her parents have the kids. They had gone to a lawyer and gotten plans made that the kids would live with the dad (who lives in our sector) on the weekends. So this friday the dad went and got the kids, and there wasnt a problem. He said his wife was even acting like she wanting to get back with him, so we were happy for a bit, untill we got a call from him telling us that he was running from the cops! We got to his house and we talked to him fo a bit, and we found out that the second the husband had left the house of the wife with the kids, the wife had set a ransom out for him saying that he had taken the kids by force. We talked with the kids for a bit, and found out that all week they had been locked in the house while the wife had gone out with another man. They didnt eat too much, and even escaped once and got lost in quito until the grandparents found them. The kids also told us and the husband that the lawyer and all that was fake. That they were friends of the wife, trying to get custody of the kids. So, the deal about taking the kids for the weekend was fake, and the wife legally can be in trouble for abandoning the children. So, the husband put out a warrent for the wife! So the situation is quite funny. Almost everyone here in ecuador has had a warrent at one time, but the police dont do anything about it, so we arent too worried yet. We are thinking about letting them go to settle their own problems, but it is just too interseting! We will see haha!
This sunday i had a pleasent suprise! The family vasco that i baptized last change came to my ward sunday! They wanted to visit me and see how i was doing. It was great to see them and see they are progressing in the gospel! They have a temple trip planned to do baptisms! How exciting!
Well, like i said, it is week six once again. I am almost positive that my comp and i will be staying together for another change. But i will let you know what happens next week! All is well. I am a little sick with a cold for the rain, but everyone tells me that i am gaining weight, so i am happy to hear that! Thanks for the letter! I hope you all have an excellent week!
Love,
Elder Nielson
p.s.hey dad
dang, i cant believe both seattle and boise are doing so bad. good for adrian. it would be cool to have a state championship. that is so cold! i cant even think about below zero weather. That scares me to think i will be getting back from hot weather to freezing cold! Hopefully it wont kill me too bad. Taht is a good question about the transfers. We both stayed, and so one of us will hvae to stay for three changes. I wouldnt like to stay fro three. I always like to be moving around. But we will see! A misionary from my group was called to be the new assistent. That is way cool for him. He is a way cool guy from oregon too.
Wow, a mountain lion? That is scary! Hwo big was it? That is scary with the calves. Someone might have to stay out there with a gun to get rid of it.
Thanks for the letter dad! i will work hard this week! Love you tons!
